Let's be honest, human history is cluttered with screw-ups of catastrophic proportion. In a list that would extend for miles, incorrect ideas about mercury are one that really stands out.
Although it’s a natural element found in the earth’s crust, often in regions with volcanic activity, its natural status doesn’t mean it’s safe.
Understand that I am simply sharing my experience and knowledge with you here. I recognize this is a controversial subject.

I started researching #Mercury #Toxicity after noticing I am experiencing some typical symptoms of metal toxicity & allergy:
- my skin gets red & itches on contact with nickel-containing items such as cheap jewelry.
- another sign is constant flu-like symptoms one or two days after dental work.
" Toxicity is not just the level of a toxin — it’s your body’s response to a toxin, which depends on the strength of your natural detoxification system."
In general heavy metals produce their toxicity by forming complexes or "ligands" with organic compounds. These modified biological molecules in the body then lose their ability to function properly and result in malfunction or death of the affected cells. The most common groups involved in ligand formation are oxygen, sulfur, and nitrogen. When metals bind to these groups they may inactive important enzyme systems, or affect protein structure. Mercury often called quicksilver, is a naturally occurring metal. While most people think of mercury as the shiny, silver-white substance used in traditional thermometers, this form of mercury - known as elemental, or metallic mercury - is only one of three forms the metal can take.
- As the planet burns coal (7 billion tons in 2007 and rising), we release thousands of tons of mercury into the atmosphere and as a result, mercury levels are increasing worldwide in our planet’s marine environment.
- Algae (seaweed) absorbs mercury in a form called methylmercury, which is toxic to human brains.
- As small fish and shrimp eat algae, they accumulate methylmercury in their tissues. As larger and larger fish move up the food chain, methylmercury levels increase substantially. - Shark, tilefish, bluefin tuna, and swordfish are at the top of the food chain and have very high mercury levels. The consumption of fish is by far the most significant source of ingestion-related mercury exposure in humans and animals, whether caught in local lakes and streams or bought in a grocery store.
Pathogens like Yeasts, parasites, bad bacteria and viruses are a SYMPTOM of heavy metals and chemical toxicity and a compromised immune system. It is more effective to treat the Root Cause and not the Symptom health problems.
Forms of Mercury is a naturally occurring element that is found in air, water, and soil.
It exists in several forms:
- elemental or metallic mercury,
- inorganic mercury compounds,
- and organic mercury compounds.
Sources of Mercury Mercury is an element in the earth's crust. Humans cannot create or destroy mercury. Pure mercury is a liquid metal, sometimes referred to as quicksilver that volatizes readily. It has traditionally been used to make products like thermometers, switches, and some light bulbs. Cosmetics & Household Cleansers can also contain high levels of mercury.
Exposure to Mercury. Mercury in the air eventually settles into water or onto land where it can be washed into water. Once deposited, certain microorganisms can change it into methylmercury, a highly toxic form that builds up in fish, shellfish, and animals that eat fish.
- Methylmercury is the major source of organic mercury for all individuals.
- The US FDA and the EPA advise women of child-bearing age, nursing mothers, and young children to completely avoid swordfish, shark, king mackerel and tilefish from the Gulf of Mexico
- The Mercury Policy Project recommended that albacore ( white Tuna) should never be given to children
— MAD AS A HATTER —
Few people who use the phrase today realize that there's a story of human suffering behind it; the term actually derives from an early industrial occupational disease. Felt hats were once very popular in North America and Europe; an example is a top hat.
The phrase "Mad as a Hatter" originated in the 1800's from the observation that people (hatters) who used mercury to process felt for hats often developed mental changes. An early step was to brush a solution of a mercury compound - usually mercurous nitrate - on to the fur to roughen the fibers and make them mat more easily Physical symptoms include trembling (known at the time as hatter's shakes), loosening of teeth, loss of co-ordination, and slurred speech; mental ones include irritability, loss of memory, depression, anxiety, and other personality changes.
This was called “Mad Hatter Syndrome.” The people who then wore these "Fur Products" were also affected !!! Today we know the cause of Mad Hatter Syndrome is Mercury Poisoning.
The problem with mercury is that any of the forms of mercury, mercury IS toxic to the body. Dental Amalgams Are A Major Source Of Mercury Toxicity. Amazing as it may seem, approximately 80% of our population have inside their mouths the most toxic non-radioactive substance on the planet. Mercury comprises 50% of all "silver" amalgam fillings that are placed in your mouth during routine dental procedures. While substantial controversy exists regarding the toxicity and safety of dental amalgam fillings, they have been shown to release some level of mercury into the bloodstream. Research conducted as early as a decade ago reported that old fillings viewed under an electron microscope showed holes where the mercury had evaporated, releasing 40% of the mercury into the body over a ten year period. The harmful effects of mercury on the body are almost too numerous to count. In many cases, it can take up to twenty-five years for disease symptoms from mercury poisoning to manifest. Surface particles of elemental mercury from amalgams are acted upon by oral and intestinal bacteria to produce methylmercury, an even more toxic form of mercury that targets the pituitary gland, thyroid gland, and the brain.
Mercury rapidly absorbs across the blood-brain barrier and interferes with the transmission of nerve impulses to the rest of the body.
The "Problem" With Mercury
The problem is Mercury simply “Loves" Sulfur in the body too much. So much so, that it will compete with other molecules for Sulfur and can usually "steal" Sulfur out of other molecular structures, in effect killing them.
Mercury (Hg) interacts with brain tubulin and disassembles microtubules that maintain neurite structure. If it can't steal Sulfur, Mercury will bond to the Sulfur atom the best it can. This usually prevents the molecule from performing its function. Sulfur is part of our blood cells as well as many other proteins and enzymes. Many systems in our bodies are very much like today's Industrial Assembly Lines. If one workstation stops functioning the whole system can backup or get very crazy.
Cellular Immunity
Antibodies in the body contain sulfur & are therefore attacked by mercury — thereby destroying the body's natural disease defense system.
It Should Be Obvious No Amount of Mercury Can Be Considered Safe!
Mercury Toxicity Symptoms
The most important factor I experienced is that, like many other people with amalgam fillings, I over time developed an increase in the prevalence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
HEALTH EFFECTS OF MERCURY AT A GLANCE
Nervous systemThe nervous system is more sensitive to mercury toxicity than any other organ in the body. Mercury has recently been documented to be associated with arrhythmias and cardiomyopathies, developmental delays, impaired vision and hearing, motor function, brain function, IQ.
High Copper and #Candida
90% of patients treated for Candida Yeast Infection also has high levels of the trace mineral copper.
Copper toxicity can be traced back to copper pipes affecting drinking water, eating acid foods that were prepared in uncoated copper pots as well as other environmental sources like fungicides, pesticides, and household cleaners. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies, the vegetable-heavy vegetarian diet, vitamin pills, jewelry and birth control pills can also disrupt the copper balance.
Copper buildup and toxicity affects the liver and the kidneys Copper is an Essential Mineral Copper is a necessary trace mineral found in 13 enzymes in the human body, having access to it (the body does not produce copper) is essential. Copper is important for proper nerve function, bone growth, fetal development, the formation of blood cells, heart and muscle movement and tone as well as the development of the brain and nervous system. It has functioned throughout the body and is essential for the body to effectively use iron in the bloodstream.
BUT In excess, copper does the following:
1 - it suppresses potassium storage in the cells (potassium is vital as it helps the thyroid produce the body's energy)
2 - it suppresses adrenal gland function (the adrenals are the "fuel pumps" for the body), as well help control blood sugar and allergy response
3 - it blocks the functions of zinc, the mineral involved in thousands of energy and immune-related cycles (high copper and low zinc have been found to cause depression and mental disorders)
4 - it suppresses iron storage, causing anemia
5 - it causes abnormal depositing of calcium in the soft tissues, which has been shown to depress thyroid function and cause an increase in viral activity.
Cadmium Cadmium (ingested or inhaled) is extremely toxic and is more efficiently absorbed through the lungs than via the gut.
It tends to be bound to red blood cells and accumulates in the adrenal glands, kidneys, and liver as well as the cardiovascular and nervous system.
Aluminum
Aluminum tends to accumulate in the brain, muscles, liver, kidneys, lungs, reproductive organs, stomach, skin and bones.
Mercury particularly accumulates in the mitochondria ('powerhouses') of the cells where it inhibits energy production.
The presence of mercury in the circulation and the effects on energy production lead to:
A profound exhaustion and fatigue (chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia)
Low body temperature
Cold hands and feet
Unexplained changes in weight: weight gain & the inability to “lose it”, or weight loss
Changes in appetite
Excessive thirst
Headaches and migraines
Anemia
Difficulty getting to sleep and staying asleep & Insomnia
Early waking
Sleepiness during the day
#Mercury has an adverse effect on the immune system, inhibiting the body’s ability to fight infection.
Illnesses associated with mercury poisoning
There are a wide range of illnesses that have been linked to mercury poisoning including:
#Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)
#Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
Multiple sclerosis (MS)
Autoimmune diseases
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
Autism.
What most consumers don't know is that pharmaceutical companies use #thimerosal, a mercury-containing preservative, in MOST #vaccines & injections. . . including ALL FLU Vaccines and some recommended childhood vaccines. (Since 2001, with the exception of some influenza vaccines(flu), thimerosal was banned to be used as a preservative in routinely recommended childhood vaccines. . . . it's questionable whether big pharmaceutical companies comply or not.)
The Greater Good
Ethylmercury
Ethylmercury is a breakdown product of the antibacteriological agent ethylmercurithiosalicylate, which has been used as a topical antiseptic and a vaccine preservative Mercury is ASLO highly reactive with selenium, an essential dietary element required by your body's enzymes. Among their numerous functions, enzymes prevent and reverse oxidative damage in the brain and endocrine organs. The molecular mechanism of mercury toxicity involves its unique ability to irreversibly inhibit activities of coenzymes, such as thioredoxin reductase.
Although it has many additional functions, thioredoxin reductase restores vitamins C and E, as well as a number of other important antioxidant molecules, back into their reduced forms, enabling them to counteract oxidative damage within body cells High mercury exposures deplete the amount of cellular selenium available for the biosynthesis of thioredoxin reductase and other selenoenzymes that prevent and reverse the oxidative damage, which, if the depletion is severe and long-lasting, results in brain cell dysfunctions that can ultimately cause death.
Luckily most of us were born with a defense against exposure to mercury, initiated by specific sequences of genetic code that cause most people to expel the metal in 30 to 40 days.
Not everyone carries this natural resistance, however. A small minority of people carry genetic codes that apparently causes their cells to retain mercury
- greatly increasing the chance for cellular damage.
Such genetic differences may explain why some people are more susceptible to mercury poisoning than others.
If you choose to have your mercury amalgam fillings replaced by less toxic white composite fillings, it is important to go to a dentist that is familiar with safe removal procedures.
Mercury in High Fructose Corn Syrup
If you experience one or more of the following, then it may be time to Detoxify:
- Frequent fatigue and low energy
- Flatulence, gas and bloating
- Excess weight
- Food allergies
- Impaired digestion
- Irritability, mood swings
- Bad breath & foul-smelling stools
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
- Bloated belly
- Powerful food cravings
- #Candida
How is Diagnosis Established?
History of Exposure: Did you ever have any amalgam fillings?
Laboratory Testing: hair, blood analysis
BioEnergetic Testing: kinesiology
TREATMENT
The question is: "Can the body not eliminate these toxins naturally on its own?" As explained before in this article, there are Genetic Variations in the Ability to Detoxify Some of us are very good at detoxifying mercury and other toxins, while some of us store toxins like a toxic waste dump. Genetic variations (called polymorphisms) make some people more prone to metal toxicity.

There are 4 primary ways to TREAT mercury toxicity:
1. Stop ingesting mercury. Stop using products that contain mercury. Read the Labels.
2. Removal of amalgam fillings stops any further poisoning
3. Increase your ability to detoxify and remove mercury
4. Detox

I highly recommend that you go through treatment for heavy metal toxicity if you experience chronic candida yeast infection.
Yeast and candida are now recognized as an immune system response against lead, aluminum, excess iron, and especially mercury.
Yeast and candida use these metals to transport their spores throughout the body.
NB If you do not cleanse yourself of metals and you do have excess metals in your system, you will not be able to get rid of your yeast infections and / candida. The symptoms of mercury and metal poisoning can also mimic the symptoms of candida and yeast. Many times what people think is candida, is really mercury poisoning. Listed symptoms of metal toxicity, are also those commonly experienced by candida and yeast sufferers.
Step 1: Getting Ready for Metal Detoxification
You must prepare the body for treatment for mercury removal by Opening the Detoxification pathways prior to starting the mercury removal.
If you don't, mercury can be reabsorbed through the colon and detoxing will become a never-ending cycle.
The most important thing is to CLEAN THE COLON so you’re having regular bowel movements every day. This opens the detox pathways of the liver and lymphatic system and prevents re-absorption of mercury.
- Follow the Step as Outlined in my Article: The Value of Detoxing
Optimize your nutritional status for detoxification.
Use healthy fats (omega-3 fats, olive oil, and flax oil),
- amino acids (which boost your liver’s detoxification capacity)
- and minerals, particularly zinc and selenium (which help your body detoxify metals).
Enhance your liver’s detoxification pathways. Take folate and vitamins B12 and B6, and eat sulfur-containing foods such as broccoli, radish, garlic, onions.
Use herbal support for detoxification. These include chlorella, cilantro, garlic and milk thistle. If you can:Start Infrared / Sauna therapy.
Make sure you take adequate electrolyte and mineral replacements to prevent dehydration and mineral loss from the sweat.
Glutathione (GSH):
After hearing many testimonials and reading several articles, it is clear that having a deficiency of glutathione is a precursor to one’s inability to effectively excrete mercury, aluminum, and pesticides from the body.
GSH is an antioxidant, immune booster and detoxifier. Without it, your cells would disintegrate from unrestrained oxidation, your body would have little resistance to bacteria, viruses and cancer and your liver would literally shrivel up from eventual accumulation of toxins.
Glutathione is the most powerful antioxidant occurring naturally in the cells of our body. The effectiveness of other antioxidants like vitamins C and E depends on the availability of GSH. This is also why Glutathione is essential in overcoming and preventing cancer, auto-immune diseases, and other immune system related disorders. Glutathione plays a key role in detoxification, having the ability to bind to heavy metals and other toxins through its sulfur molecules, thereby providing the means for the body to eliminate these toxins. Studies have shown that children with autism have low levels of GSH which researchers attribute to abnormalities in their methionine pathway.
Getting glutathione into the body is not that simple as it is destroyed in the stomach.
Dietary sources of Glutathione: Glutathione is synthesized from three amino acids - cysteine, glutamate, and glycine. Since most healthy diets rich in raw fruits and vegetables have an abundance of glutamate and glycine, the focus should be on dietary sources of cysteine.
Cysteine content is relatively high in proteins found in eggs, meat, red peppers, garlic, onions, Brussels sprouts, oats, milk, whey protein, and wheat germ.
Fruits and vegetables that are high in these precursors to GSH production are avocado, watermelon, asparagus, grapefruit, potato, acorn squash, strawberries, orange, tomato, cantaloupe, broccoli, okra, peach, zucchini, and spinach.
Step 2: Integrate Additional steps to Support Metal - Detoxification
At this stage, you can integrate the following to support your detoxification even more:
Natural Cilantro Tincture.
Take two drops in hot water before a meal twice a day.
I make my own Cilantro Tincture
Chlorella.
Start with one dose a day and then build up to three doses a day for three months if tolerated — take 30 minutes before meals and at bedtime.
Procedure for making an easy Cilantro Tincture :
- Chop herbs finely
- Place in a glass jar, labeled with the current date and name of the herb
- Add sufficient liquid alcohol to completely cover the herb
- Cap with a tight-fitting lid put the jar in a dark place at room temperature, and shake at least once daily.
- After 3- 6 weeks, strain the contents through several layers of cheesecloth.
- Store in a labeled, amber glass bottle away from light and heat.
Cilantro (Chinese Parsley)
This kitchen herb is capable of mobilizing mercury, cadmium, lead, and aluminum in both bones and the central nervous system. It is probably the only effective agent in mobilizing mercury stored in the intracellular space (attached to mitochondria, tubulin, liposomes etc) and in the nucleus of the cell (reversing DNA damage of mercury). Because cilantro mobilizes more toxins then it can carry out of the body, it may flood the connective tissue (where the nerves reside) with metals, that were previously stored in safer hiding places.
Step 3: The Metal Detoxification Period
Find a Dentist to evaluate the extent of your mercury fillings & options for replacing them. This can be done slowly over time, but must be done VERY carefully and only under a trained Dentist’s supervision to avoid burdening yourself with more mercury during the removal process.
Use binding agents to pull the mercury out of your body. There is a lot of controversy about the best way to do this.
Natural Alternatives To Traditional Chelation Therapy
The following detoxification products & procedure can be a safe alternative to traditional chelators used in chelation therapy for removing heavy metals and chemical pollutants.
- Purified Bentonite Bathing Clay for Detoxifying Metals and Chemicals
There are a lot of different types of clay, and they are classified by their mineral and structural properties. Bentonite clay is actually a brand name for a type of clay which is mined in Wyoming. It is made from weathered deposits of volcanic ash. Bentonite clay is often referred to as montmorillonite clay, which is clay mined in the Mont Morillon region of France. Both montmorillonite clay and bentonite clay are part of a class of clay called smectites. Compared to other types of clay, smectite clays expand considerably more when wet. Smectite clays also carry a specific octahedral charge.
Clay Creates a Natural Pulling Action on the Skin
When clay absorbs water, it expands. Wet clay will feel smooth and slippery on your skin. When it dries out, the clay will return to its former size. The dried clay feels rough and flaky and makes your skin feel really tight. This isn’t exactly comfortable, but that tightness is a good thing. It is because the clay is literally pulling the toxins, bacteria, and oils from your skin.
Clay Binds to Heavy Metals
Certain clays from volcanic ash (including bentonite clay) have a negative charge. Particles with a positive charge will be drawn to them, much like the sides of a magnet will draw each other. This property is what allows the clay to draw damaging positively-charged heavy metals from our bodies. During your Detox Program, I recommend taking a clay bath about twice a week.
Bentonite Clay Detox Bath
- 1/2 cup Bentonite Clay
- 1/2 cup Epsom Salt
Few drops of 100% pure essential oil of your choice ( Lavender & Eucalyptus works very well)
- Draw a warm/hot bath and add your salt and clay to the water, mixing it in with your hand. It should dissolve once you’re ready to get in the tub.- Soak for 20-30 minutes, longer if desired.- Alternatively, you can mix the clay in a bowl with a small amount of water to make a paste, then apply to your skin and let dry for 5 minutes before getting into the tub. This will help draw out the toxins in your skin before rinsing off the mask in the bath.
Clay Detox Bath Recipe
- ¾ cup bentonite clay (buy clay here)
- Few drops of 100% pure essential oil of your choice (I like this brand of lavender EO)
- Warm water
Instructions
There are a couple ways you can do a clay bath. What you DON’T want to do is dump the clay into a tub of warm water. You will end up with clumps!First, fill up the tub with warm water (whatever temperature is comfortable for you).Mix the bentonite clay in a small bowl with some warm water. From here, you have two options. The first is to put the clay/water solution into the tub, swirling as you add it to prevent clumping. The second option is to slather the clay/water solution on your body and then get into the tub. Both methods work well, but the first is less messy as the solution can drip on the floor if you slather it on your body.Soak for as long as you like! Feel free to sip on some herbal tea (I like ginger tea) while listening to soothing music After you are done, rinse off with a quick shower.*To really detox your body, you should consider dry brushing your skin before hopping into the clay bath!
Detox Baths
I also do magnesium (Epsom salt) baths for detoxification
Oxygen Detox Bath Recipe
- 2-3 cups of 3% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide (food grade hydrogen peroxide doesn’t contain stabilizers like drugstore hydrogen peroxide does, but you can still use regular peroxide if you choose)
- 1 tablespoon of Organic Ginger Powder or fresh ginger root slices
Oxygen Detox Bath Instructions
Draw a warm/hot bath and add your hydrogen peroxide and ginger powder, mixing with your hand to dissolve in the water. Soak for a minimum of 30 minutes, but longer will be more effective.Hydrogen peroxide helps to energize and oxygenate the skin, and the ginger will help clear up allergies or sinus issues caused by a cold or flu. It’s also a great boost for the immune system.
Do saunas as often as possible
R-Lipoic Acid for Removing Metal Ions from the Brain
Being both water and fat soluble, R-lipoic acid passes the blood-brain barrier and has been shown to chelate metals like mercury that can attach to fatty cells and brain neurons. It has also been shown to help decrease metals from the liver as well. R-lipoic acid also extends the life of other antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium, and CoQ10 in the body. This is important because a heavy metal load creates more free radical activity. The longer an antioxidant can scavenge these free radicals, the less the "detox cleansing" reaction may last. ( You can buy this at any Health Shop)
Drink enough filtered water and fluids to make urine clear.
Use whatever is needed to boost glutathione levels.
Detoxification protocol, in some cases, may take 6 months up to 2 /3 years, although many have successfully completed the detoxification process in a shorter period of time.
Energizing Soak
This stimulating herbal bath is especially good for an energy boost after a detoxing day.
- 3 tbsp dried nettle
- 3 tbsp dried red clover blossoms
- 2 tbsp dried peppermint
Place the dried herbs in the center of a piece of cloth like a cotton handkerchief. Gather the corners of the cloth together and tie with a piece of string, making a loop large enough to fit over your bathtub faucet. Hang this herbal "teabag" from the faucet so that the bathwater runs through it.
- 3 drops peppermint essential oil
- 3 drops rosemary essential oil
- 1 tsp distilled witch hazel
When the tub is full, add the essential oil mixture. ( Oils will dissipate too quickly if added while the hot water is still running. )
Swirl the water around with your hand to disperse the oils.
Place the herbal tea bag in the tub.
Dry - Brush Your Body
To enhance the effect of the Aromatherapy Oils, it is recommended that you dry brush your entire body before you step into the bathtub. Once you have entered the tub, soak for 15–20 minutes, adding additional hot water as needed to maintain a constant water temperature. For an increased energizing effect, you follow this bath with a cold shower.

Avoid all sugar and milk, limit all processed foods and most grains, especially wheat.
Read “ Detoxing Guidelines” and follow the protocol outlined therein. It will be important to have a high protein diet as the sulfur bearing amino acids in the protein will greatly facilitate detoxification.
Do NOT attempt to fast during mercury detoxification.
Proteins provide the important precursors to the endogenous metal detox and shuttle agents, such as ceruloplasmin, metallothionein, glutathione, and others. . . eat lots of nuts. ( I advocate a Plant-Based LifeStyle . . so sorry, no meat or dairy)
Metals attach themselves only in places that are programmed for attachment of metal ions. Mineral deficiency provides the opportunity for toxic metals to attach themselves to vacant binding sites.
Substituting minerals can detoxify the body by itself. Just as important are electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium), which help to transport toxic waste across the extra-cellular space towards the lymphatic and venous vessels.
Lipids (made from fatty acids) make up 60–80% of the central nervous system and need to be constantly replenished. Deficiency makes the nervous system vulnerable to the fat-soluble metals, such as metallic mercury constantly escaping as odorless and invisible vapor evaporating from the amalgam fillings.
Without enough fluid intake, the kidneys may become contaminated with metals.
The basal membranes swell up and the kidneys can no longer efficiently filtrate toxins.
DRINK ENOUGH WATER !!
Beneficial Bacteria
It is vital to have an optimized bowel flora for detoxification. Take appropriate supplements . . see your local Health Shop.
Maintain regular bowel movements per day
Make sure you have bowel movements twice a day. This is very important or you will reabsorb mercury from the gut. You can add ground flax seeds to shakes or foods, or take magnesium citrate capsules twice a day if you are not going regularly. Freshly ground flax seed several teaspoons per day will facilitate intestinal movement and also contribute some healthy essential fatty acids.
Unload the connective tissue with Chlorella or ProChitosan
Chlorella and ProChitosan are an important part of the detoxification program, as approximately 90% of the mercury in our bodies is eliminated through the stool. Chlorella is an algae and, unlike Protchitosan, has protein high levels of chlorophyll and other nutrients which can be used for nourishment. The chlorella powder is the most cost-effective approach but some people will prefer the tablets or capsules for convenience.
A simple way to dissolve the powder is to place it in a container with a lid partially filled with water. Then tighten the lid and shake to dissolve and drink the solution.
Caution: About 30% of people can't tolerate chlorella. This may be due to the optimized function of the enzyme cellulase. If you are unable to tolerate this it would be wise to consider adding an enzyme with cellulase in it to help digest the chlorella.
Caution: If at any time one develops nausea or starts "burping up" the chlorella taste then the chlorella should be stopped immediately as a food sensitivity is developing which will only worsen if you continue taking it. If this happens you should switch to ProChitosan. This binds similarly to mercury. Its dose is dependent on your bowel movements.
Garlic or MSM
It would be wise to start with garlic regularly to enhance sulfur stores.
MSM is a form of sulfur which will help your body to remove the mercury. Garlic has been shown to protect the white and red blood cells from oxidative damage caused by metals in the bloodstream - on their way out - and also has its own valid detoxification functions. Garlic also contains the most important mineral, which protects against mercury toxicity, bioactive selenium.
Cilantro (Chinese Parsley)
Cilantro will help mobilize mercury out of the tissue.
However, like chlorella, many people are sensitive to cilantro. So, if you develop any nausea or discomfort after eating cilantro do not use it orally. Because cilantro mobilizes more toxins then it can carry out of the body, it may flood the connective tissue (where the nerves reside) with metals, that were previously stored in safer hiding places. This process is called re-toxification. It can easily be avoided by simultaneously giving an intestinal toxin-absorbing agent, for example, chlorella.
Cilantro tea: use 10 to 20 drops in a cup of hot water. Sip slowly. Clears the brain quickly of many neurotoxins. Good for headaches and other acute symptoms (joint pains, angina, headache).
Mineral Replacement
It is important to have a generally healthy mineral base. The body works better with toxic metals than no metals at all. Enzymes have certain binding sites that require a metal for them to perform their function as a catalyst. When you are deficient in magnesium, sodium, zinc and other minerals, the body does not let go of the toxic metals very easily. Selenium and zinc are particularly important trace minerals in mercury detoxification and should be used for most people.
Antioxidants
Vitamin C, D, and E. It would be wise to take plenty of vitamin C, D & E each day.
